Jaipur based Jayoti Vidyapeeth Women’s University offers a unique opportunity to the girls, who have cleared 12th and nurture the dreams to become a teacher. The University, which is one of its kind in the country, offers 4-year integrated BA-B.Ed and B.Sc-B.Ed courses for them. Those having passed with Arts can opt for BA-B.Ed and those with science qualification can go for B.Sc-B.Ed course. The B.Sc-B.Ed course is available with both Biology and Maths combinations. The courses are unique in the sense that the students do not have to spend three years in acquiring a graduate degree and then going for the traditional B.Ed course. It not only saves a year but also enables them to acquire knowledge of the teaching techniques from the very beginning. The courses, which have national and international recognition, have been designed scientifically and include the latest information in the field of Educational Psychology and teaching techniques. The University has a staff of well qualified teachers, who prepare the students to adapt to the fast changing teaching techniques and cater to the needs of the children at school level. It also provides training to the B.Ed students at different English and Hindi medium schools in and around Jaipur. ‘’Training is an essential component of the program and we make sure that every student avails herself of this opportunity,’’ says Dr. Panckaj Garg, the founder & Director of the University. Besides the University also organizes workshops and seminars at regular intervals in which eminent educationists from across the country are invited to interact with the students. What makes the courses worth joining is the assistance offered by the University to the students in their placement. ‘’A large number of our students have been working in different schools across the country....we provide every assistance to the students,’’ Dr. Garg said.
More than ten lakh posts of teachers have been lying vacant at government schools alone in the country. In such a scenario the demand for trained teachers is expected to remain high in the coming years.
