Her family is from Baidaposi area of Rairangpur. Shes from the Santhal tribe. President Murmu was a Santhali by birth. One of the major tribes, Santhals are primarily found in West Bengal, Odisha, and Jharkhand. They are also seen in Assam and Bihar. Their official language is Santhali. She was considered for the position of President earlier too As per reports, President Murmu was considered as a strong contender during the time when the then President Pranab Mukherjee was set to leave Rashtrapati Bhavan. She is an Arts graduate President Murmu graduated from the esteemed Rama Devi University, formerly known as Rama Devi Womens College, in the state. The University is the first womens university in Odisha and is named after Ramadevi Choudhury, a social reformer and liberation warrior. Her journey is not political. President Murmu served as a junior assistant in the Odisha Irrigation Department before to entering politics. She had previously worked as a teacher at the Sri Aurobindo Integral Education Center in Rairangpur, where she instructed children in Hindi, Odia, math, and geography.
