Fast track special courts for such victims in pipeline

12-year-old Singari Malto (name changed) wants to become a police officer. Singari, a resident of Sahebganj, narrating her ordeal said that the no one should fall prey to the torture and mental pain suffered by her. Singari is one of the many child victims of human trafficking, who was rescued and airlifted from Delhi and brought to Ranchi by the state government five months ago. After recovery of Singari, the state government organized a Brain Mapping session in order to know her future plans and accordingly work on Singaris future. There are 44 other daughters like Singari. Everyone has their plans for their future, which the state government is seriously considering.
Presently, initiative is to employ these girls who have been brought back in Jharkhand itself, as well as a direction was given to all the concerned Deputy Commissioners to release an amount of Rs 2,000 per month for the girls till they reach adulthood. In a similar case, 24 women who were forced to work for 16 hours a day in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu were airlifted back to Ranchi. The state government has also employed 111 nurses in reputed hospitals of the country and paved the way for their economic independence.
Apart from this Jharkhand government is working on fast track special court for speedy trial of harassment cases against women. It is done for the early and speedy hearing and disposal of cases under Rape and the POCSO Act. Notably, the proposal for constitution of 22 Fast Track Special Courts of District and Additional Sessions Judge level in the state of Jharkhand was approved. The District and Additional Sessions Judge, Additional Judge, Additional Public Prosecutor has been nominated by the Law Department under the POCSO Act in Daltonganj (Palamu), Dhanbad, Jamshedpur, Garhwa, Godda, Ranchi and Deoghar districts of the state. For the smooth functioning of its administrative establishment, creation of 154 non-gazetted posts of class-III and class-IV has been given post facto approval.
To counter Human Trafficking Groups across the state, Anti Human Trafficking Units (AHTUs) will be formed at Latehar, Sahebganj, Godda, and Giridih. The Chief Minister has given nod to the proposal regarding the formation of AHTU in these four districts. These notified units will be working in the entire area of the concerned district and will be responsible for the investigation and registration of cases related to illegal human trade in other police station areas of the AHTU district. These units will also keep a complete record related to the prevention of illegal human trade, defense, prosecution. Apart from this, the details of criminals or gangs will also be maintained by the units. At present eight Anti-Human Trafficking Units are operational in Jharkhand.
