Regarding Orientation and subsequent Interviews for Government Funded Internship
As a part of the commemorative celebration of the 75th anniversary of our Independence,
envisioned protecting traditional water bodies for ensuring water security of cities by involving Youth and the community. Bearing this vision in mind, the Government of India has launched Mission Amrit Sarovar- Jal Dharohar Sanrakshan’. Jayoti Vidyapeeth Womens University in collaboration with the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Ministry of Education and AICTE has been a part of this prestigious project.
The project included following measures:
a) History and spatio-temporal analyses.
b) Hydrological studies, conservation of catchment areas;
c) Preparing maps of the water body and its surroundings.
d) Taking photographs that capture the essence of the water body;
e) Reimagining the areas as a vibrant public space
As a part of this short term project the Students of Jayoti vidypeeth womens university are exploring the assigned water body, University and its surroundings for the past 10 days. They visited the wells, herbal gardens which are highly enriched with the different species of herbs, water purification process, and aquatic plants in the ponds which helps the aquatic animals in survival, and finally the hygiene & cleanliness of the university. Hence, it was concluded that special measures are being taken in the University for protecting, rejuvenating and preserving traditional local water bodies to ensure water security and community development.
On the 8th day of the project the University organized a one day trip to PUSHKAR and its surrounding heritage places for all the students. Students overlook the water harvesting projects in PUSHKAR. They went to oversee the cleanliness of the PUSHKAR pond, and how the measures are being taken to keep it clean. They observed that it was clean and properly managed by the Government authorities. However some observations were noted down by the students which will be submitted to the Government of India as recommendations in their project. Students are learning and getting aware about the problems regarding water harvesting which will enhance themselves for their future.
All the participating students will be awarded with Certificate from Government of India and Cash Incentive.
